Delegates Committee

This page is for WAI delegates—each AA group can elect a representative (delegate) to represent their group and vote at WAI meetings. Delegates can also join or chair WAI committees or volunteer their group for alcathons, social events, treatment commitments, and other WAI activities.

Local districts (i.e., Districts 23, 24, 25, 26) can elect a District Liaison to represent their district and vote at WAI meetings. (Note: WAI has its own Liaison to represent WAI at Area 30 assemblies and meetings).

If you are thinking "I'm not needed here," or "WAI can function without me," here are examples of how an intergroup delegate helps an AA group. As a WAI delegate, you can:

  1. Change the WAI office location.
  2. Elect (or stand for) a WAI committee chair position.
  3. At any time, call for a special WAI delegates meeting.
  4. Approve or disapprove any proposed WAI budget.
  5. Approve or disapprove major purchases or leases.
  6. Approve, disapprove, or amend meeting minutes and treasurer reports.
  7. Approve or disapprove changes to the WAI Guidelines.
